Contour Map 2D
Upload one or more CSVs. 2 columns (x, y) are drawn as a site outline; 3 columns (x, y, z) are drawn as z-coloured points. Each upload is added to the map.
About Contour Map 2D Tool
This tool creates elevation / contour maps from geotechnical data. Provide data in x, y, z format where x, y are coordinates and z is the elevation. The tool uses interpolation to create isolines and contour maps.
When an AGS file is provided, the following contour maps can be generated:
- Existing ground elevation map
- Water level map
- Rock level map
Works with AGS 3.0, 4.0, 4.1 and Excel file formats.
Interpolation Methods
1. Radial Basis Function (RBF)
Fits a smooth, continuous surface through data points using weighted radial basis functions.
- Linear — Best for linear trends. Fastest computation, less smooth.
- Cubic — Smoother than linear. Captures moderate nonlinearities.
- Thin Plate — Very smooth. Captures both global and local variations.
2. Piecewise
Divides data into segments with different interpolation functions per region.
- Linear — Fast triangulation-based interpolation.
- Cubic — Smoother triangulation interpolation.
